AWA has posted their new Artist Alley rules!

And boooooy are there some changes.

Some of the changes include:

PORTFOLIO REVIEWS. Yup; AWA is going to implement portfolio reviews, so to everyone interested, be sure to get those together!

NO MORE THAN 50% OF YOUR WORK CAN BE FANART. Now THIS is a fan art restriction I can agree with! I intend to be mostly original anyway, but it's good to know what the limits are.

BADGES ARE MANDATORY! Yup; you need to have an AWA Badge AND an Artist Alley badge.

The artist alley will be relocated from the garden center to the hall where the dealer's room area is. This will also mean set hours.

The tables will now cost $100! O_O That's a big jump in cost, though thankfully partnering up is allowed.

There's other things mentioned, but those are some of the points. Artist Alleys are really cracking down this year. I intend to be there, but admittedly I'll be a bit wary with the new locale and all. And the table cost; yikes!

I should also make one more mention: AWA will be accepting applications and portfolios starting February 22nd! So get those portfolios ready, guys!

Seems to be much in the way of talk for Artist Alley as of recent...

...first off, I wanted to ask if anyone has any idea what is going on with Momocon. I sent in a request for an artist alley table about a month and a half ago and never heard back--a friend of mine who is close to some of the people with that con had a similar experience happen. I hope that the tables aren't already taken as I may have to cancel Momocon if I'm unable to sell (I need that moneys!), but it is rather unsettling to not get a reply, either. I'm rather worried.

Also, lurking AWA's forums, I ran across this. It seems that AWA is looking to implement some changes of their own for the artist alley. I won't make any sort of speculations as to what those changes could possibly be, but the wording in some portions has me wondering. Again; I won't speculate, and I highly doubt that they're going to take measures as extreme as that of MTAC and Ohayocon, and once the new guidelines come out I will let everyone know.

*sigh* Now if only my artistic self could get over herself--my businesswoman side is as sharp as ever.

I'm back...actually, I've been back since yesterday evening, but believe it or not, I've been doing some serious catching up on my sleep (in fact, I'm still sleeping from time to time).

Artist Alley was alright. I didn't do as well as last year but to be honest I didn't expect to on account of the economy and my rather lacking showing. The good news was that my comics sold pretty well ( my new book sold out!), and I made some very important friends, which I will go into when the time comes.

It feels weird that I don't have a con to worry about for a while. That's fine. I'm going to take this time to improve myself.

Anyway, I'm going to keep taking it easy. Later, I need to start working on my resume and begin the process to look for a job, as well a schedule some driving practise.

Right; so from here on out I'll be doing the AWA thing. I already picked up my badge (which is a story in itself, but I'm saving it for the report), and am in the process of finishing up my prep work...

...I'm going to try to get some sleep this time. Admittedly, it's not looking terribly likely, but at the very least I'll try to take a nap. I still have AA stuff to finish up AND I have to pack. D:

I hope I can do well. I hate being so insecure.
