Guys, can you do me a favour?

If I'm putting too much effort into putting something together for a con that isn't a comic book, please beat some sense back into me.

I'm not ready for AWA. I'm not panicking, but I'm worried that I'm doing this for naught out of concern that my work won't sell. I'm being stupid again.

...also, I'm severely sleep deprived. I can't remember the last time I had such dark circles under my eyes. I know what you guys are gonna tell me; "GET SOME FUCKING SLEEP". I will. Soonish. I'll try to, anyway.

I called my mum earlier today, kinda out of the blue but mostly to see how she's been, and she informs me:

Snowdoll is pregnant again.

For those of you just joining in, Snowdoll is one of the two Siberian Huskies that live at my mum's. Last June she gave birth to a litter, and now she's going through it again. O_O Poor Marc. I'm sure he's THRILLED to have to endure puppy stench.

...I wish I could get one of those Huskies. But alas; I don't think my poor Cat Raven could deal with another. Ah, I remember when Romanov (mum's fiancee's Huskie and father of Snowdoll's babies) was just a pup, and he and Raven would play*.

*By that, I mean Romanov would get too close to Raven's personal space, Raven hissed, Romanov persisted, and WHAP! Paw slap from Raven. XD

I never did post those photos of the puppies. I got caught up with AWA, depressed about life, and then VIRUS. But I will post them when I get them back. Seriously.

Hot on the heels of AWA's artist alley info, Animazement has now finally posted theirs.

It'll be a bigger artist alley than last year thanks to the new venue, but I still intend to get one as soon as I can--tables will be available March 7th at 10:00 p.m.

With the new venue comes a new option--Ballroom and Balcony tables. The short of it is that the former has the option of getting a full or a half table, and it costs less but has set hours, whereas the latter is full table only, costs more and is 24-hours. I'm not sure which to go for just yet...

The rules are posted as well, and it seems AZ has no restrictions or bans on fan art. However, this rule puzzled me a bit:

All work sold on Artists Alley MUST relate to Japanese Culture. If we find work that does not have anything to do with Japanese Culture, that artist may be asked to leave the Artists Alley for the entirety of the weekend. Animazement’s mission is to enlighten and educate people about Japanese Culture and the same goes for the Artists Alley. It is not only a place for artists to showcase their work, but also a place where people can learn about the different sub-styles within Japanese styled artwork.

Maybe I'm a bit paranoid, but does that mean my artwork has to be more ~~animu~~ anime-looking to be allowed to be sold, or have more Japanese people? D: As far as I know, they're not doing any portfolio reviews, so again; I'm likely overthinking, and shouldn't worry. Seems kinda silly to me, though.

AWA 2009 ARTIST ALLEY RULES

AWA has posted their new Artist Alley rules!

And boooooy are there some changes.

Some of the changes include:

PORTFOLIO REVIEWS. Yup; AWA is going to implement portfolio reviews, so to everyone interested, be sure to get those together!

NO MORE THAN 50% OF YOUR WORK CAN BE FANART. Now THIS is a fan art restriction I can agree with! I intend to be mostly original anyway, but it's good to know what the limits are.

BADGES ARE MANDATORY! Yup; you need to have an AWA Badge AND an Artist Alley badge.

The artist alley will be relocated from the garden center to the hall where the dealer's room area is. This will also mean set hours.

The tables will now cost $100! O_O That's a big jump in cost, though thankfully partnering up is allowed.

There's other things mentioned, but those are some of the points. Artist Alleys are really cracking down this year. I intend to be there, but admittedly I'll be a bit wary with the new locale and all. And the table cost; yikes!

I should also make one more mention: AWA will be accepting applications and portfolios starting February 22nd! So get those portfolios ready, guys!

AWA Artist Alley Update

They haven't posted the new policies yet, but I read one of the threads on the forums and the AA head "Ronin" stated the following regarding AWA's Artist Alley and fan art:

Fan art is one of the things that will be addressed in the upcoming information. Fan art isn't being banned, but there are some new restrictions designed to encourage original work.

So, just a heads up, guys. I'm honestly not surprised that they would have some rules placed upon fan art given the recent trends. I've gotten so engrossed with my originals as of late, though...maybe this is a blessing in disguise after all. I dunno. Anyway, I'll post more info as it comes!

Seems to be much in the way of talk for Artist Alley as of recent...

...first off, I wanted to ask if anyone has any idea what is going on with Momocon. I sent in a request for an artist alley table about a month and a half ago and never heard back--a friend of mine who is close to some of the people with that con had a similar experience happen. I hope that the tables aren't already taken as I may have to cancel Momocon if I'm unable to sell (I need that moneys!), but it is rather unsettling to not get a reply, either. I'm rather worried.

Also, lurking AWA's forums, I ran across this. It seems that AWA is looking to implement some changes of their own for the artist alley. I won't make any sort of speculations as to what those changes could possibly be, but the wording in some portions has me wondering. Again; I won't speculate, and I highly doubt that they're going to take measures as extreme as that of MTAC and Ohayocon, and once the new guidelines come out I will let everyone know.

*sigh* Now if only my artistic self could get over herself--my businesswoman side is as sharp as ever.
